Lyla

LYLA (N. Gallagher)
WRITTEN:
DEMO: Confirmed. In circulation.
RECORDED: Recorded by Jan 'Stan' Kybert at Wheeler End, Wycombe, Bucks.
COMMENTS: First song written for Heathen Chemistry in different form called Sing. Scrapped cos Travis has a song called Sing. Inspired by Soundtrack Of Our Lives drumbeat. Lyrics inspired by watching Woodstock the directors cut. Least interesting song on the album. Title was Smiler but changed cos Gem's old band Heavy Stereo had a song called Smiler. Lyla ain't anybody. (Noel, XFM 30.5.05). Reaction to song played live blew Noel away especially on the first night of the tour. (Noel, Radio 1 (Whiley), 23rd May 2005). Written in it's early stages for Heathen Chemistry, wasn't called Lyla and it didn't have the same drumbeat or feel but had the same chords. Got back from America with album finished and mastered and record company didn't feel they had a good enough first single. Wouldn't have been Noel's choice for the first single. (Noel, Radio 2, 26th May 2005). Mixed the demo really. Lyla isnt a real person, she's like Cinderella. (Noel, Studio Brussels, 4th June 2005)

OTHERS: Produced by Noel Gallagher with additional production by Dave Sardy. Mixed by Dave Sardy at Metropolis Studios, London. Drums by Zak Starkey.
LIVE (BAND) DEBUT: Friday Night With Jonathan Ross, London - 5th May 2005
